Magtein™ by THREOTECH™

For two years, LSYGENA has worked with AIDP Inc. and THREOTECH™. We are proud to have actively promoted several of their actives, notably Magtein™ (magnesium L-threonate).

We are pleased to inform you that Magtein™ has received a positive scientific opinion from EFSA.

What the EFSA opinion says

Following a request from the European Commission, EFSA's Panel on Nutrition, Novel Foods and Food Allergens (NDA) issued an opinion on the safety of magnesium L-threonate as a novel food under Regulation (EU) 2015/2283, and on the bioavailability of magnesium from this source.

The novel food is intended as a new source of magnesium in food supplements, at a maximum intake of 3,000 mg/day for adults (excluding pregnant and breastfeeding women), i.e. about 2,730 mg of L-threonate and 250 mg of magnesium.

Conclusions

  • Magnesium is bioavailable from the novel food
  • An intake of 2,700 mg/day of L-threonate is considered safe
  • No genotoxicity concern
  • The novel food (Mg L-threonate) is safe under the proposed conditions of use
